Turn the way-back machine to early 1995. I'd moved to San Francisco in 1991 and had been working on many musical projects with members from THE INNOCENTS (later, THE INNOSYNTHS), a side project called Clarke's Bell and even one with Eric Mars and SFoRcE called PINK PLANET (now THAT was a fun performance).
Anyway, SFoRcE (my best friend Spencer) and I had rebuilt my new studio in my new apartment in Laurel Heights, and we started work on what would become the SOLITUDE album, my very first solo album (cassette even!). The first track, also called SOLITUDE, was my "It Gets Better" song. To this day, it's a song I still love perform in my live sets because the issues it addresses, unfortunately, still exist today.
Plus, I'm still a HUGE fan of the Poly-800.
Let me know what you think. The lyrics are below the video, and the entire album playlist can be found here.

Little boy, it'll be all right
You're crying alone again tonight
Leave it behind, the pain inside
They've left you alone again for now
After the laughter fades away
There's just no reason left to stay
Is there anyone on your side?
They'll never find you if you hide
Alone you cry, you're finally free
Alone you cry, you're finally free
Little boy, you know forever blame
Their lying will keep you far from home.
They don't listen, never forgiven
They'll never notice that you're gone
After the laughter fades away
There's just no reason left to stay
Is there anyone on your side?
They'll never find you if you hide
Alone you cry, you're finally free
Alone you cry, you're finally free
He won't be taken, he won't be broken
The boy has gone but the man has spoken
He's never looking back, no going home again
You don't exist in a tear-stained picture
Never stay too long, never, never cry alone
It doesn't help and it just doesn't matter
Never stay too long, never, never cry alone
It doesn't help, and it just doesn't matter
